where to eat

Food  - at Yvonne and Benjamins Zaanse Bakketje - all their fresh pastries, great sandwiches and coffee, with a good spot to settle and do some people spotting! 
Wolfsend , next door the Zaanse bakkertje, is a great LUNCHSPOT! Try their grilled sandwiches or a real Dutch "uitsmijter" the perfect brunch dish. 
Delicate sushi - our neighbor has recently stepped up their game with a few tables and extended their menu, not only sushi but great stir fries aswell! The smell that waft over our way, round about lunch time, have us drooling! 
Café de Slager has a gerat French inspired food and a fabulous outdoor area. 
For DINNER there are 2 spots we'd recommend : Nok Nok Thai food, Rozengracht 67 Zaandam - a simple setting & no liquor licence, but my o my the food! Thesee ladies and gents cook in an open kitchen in front of you and the food is utterly delicious!

Le Cockelon - cheese, wine and other delicacies, also a cute lunchroom for delicious crispy bocadillos. 
Roxy's Deli - situated in the center of Zaandam on a unique square, a feast for you grocery bag and very knowledgeable and helpful owners run the place. They serve a delicious cup of coffee on the spot too!


where to shop - art and unique gifts

Souvenirs - to the mills is the place to be a huge selection and friendly tourist advice thrown in too! Art Zaanstad, Smells Like Chocolate, Kook & Zaans Faam are great spots to find your best souvenirs.
